We implemented social investment initiatives throughout the project’s exploration and early development period and in 2019 we developed a new social investment strategy (SIS) to guide social investment efforts during the project’s construction period.
Beyond the Project SIS, our social investment efforts will increasingly align with the goals of the Total Group’s Foundation. This Foundation focuses on four thematic areas, namely: road safety, youth inclusion and education, forests and climate, and cultural dialogue and heritage.
We are committed to playing our role in supporting and broadening socio-economic development at the local, regional and national level. We have developed a SIS that aligns with the development priorities identified in Mozambique's Action Plan for the Reduction of Absolute Poverty, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the project’s environmental, social and health impact assessment as described in the ESHIA Executive Summary.
