Mozambican Skilled Workers Reinforce the Offshore Project

As part of the operations undertaken under the sea by the Mozambique LNG project, TechnipFMC has so far engaged a number of highly skilled Mozambican professionals in key technical and administrative roles to support project delivery.

TechnipFMC, a UK-based firm, was awarded a number of subsea contracts by Mozambique LNG for its Golfinho/Atum development offshore Mozambique. One of the project’s main goals is to employ qualified Mozambican citizens at all levels of the in-country organization.

TechnipFMC currently employs Mozambicans in a variety of positions, including Human Resources, Health and Environmental, Finance/Cost controlling, Legal, Procurement and Engineering. Below are two examples of local hires:

Michael Pontes is the installation engineer leading the technical requirements for the onshore base to execute the installation of the Integrated subsea solutions scope. He has four years’ experience and is motivated to expand his horizons with the project, which he believes will be a game-change for Mozambique. Since being hired, Michael has spent time working in Ghana, Nigeria, the Gulf of Mexico and Angola to acquire expertise and field experience to help execute the Mozambican projects.

Marcia Mombe is a lawyer who was hired in mid-2019 and quickly established herself as a key member of the team. She leads the Compliance, Permitting and Licensing efforts to ensure TechnipFMC successfully completes all required documentation prior to executing the project.

The experience that is being acquired with the exposure of Mozambicans in international firms as Mozambique LNG will bring added value to the country in terms of knowledge transfer.

These early successes reinforce TechnipFMC’s confidence in hiring local personnel for many years to come.

TechnipFMC will execute the offshore installation scope with its consortium partner Van Oord through their wholly owned United Arab Emirates incorporated subsidiary, Van Oord Gulf FZE, and in cooperation with strategic major subcontractor, Allseas.
